Hegel’s background is in 2 channel amps for audiophiles, but it’s estimated that in 2018, 32% of homes will be considered a “smart home”* where the majority of listening is done around a family media area or even a dedicated theater room. We wanted to see what we could design specifically for the Custom Installer. How could we bring our audiophile aesthetic to the smart home?
We wanted to design an Integrated Amp that was impressively powerful, simple to install, and intuitive to run. It’s called the Röst (product page) and it’s an Integrated Amplifier with 75 watts per channel, has Airplay/DLNA streaming, is IP programmable, and is Control4 ready with drivers for Crestron and Savant.
So how does a 2 channel piece like the Röst fit into an automated home? Installers have been using the Röst in media rooms and home theater spaces. We’ve been told numerous times that our Röst is the easiest thing the Custom Installer has ever integrated into a Control4 network. (I’ve heard this myself at least 3 or 4 times.) Here is some more of the exciting feedback we’ve received:
- “That thing is a beast.“
- “Unlike the typical experience where integration should take only 5 minutes, but never does – the Röst actually did!”
- “At my house I found it easily connected to my JRiver/NAS and the Airplay worked out of the box- this is also unusual.”
